Amateur radio is invaluable during emergencies, allows people to socialize across great distances without a monthly bill, and is very useful when letting others know about oncoming inclement weather. And if you are a "ham", it's even possible to be listening and receive a "general call" from an astronaut in space! Come out June 23 to learn to send your name in Morse code, and find out everything you want to know about the Amateur Radio Service-including how to get your own license! Temporary stations will be set up on HRPO grounds as the Baton Rouge Amateur Radio Club takes part in this suspenseful national transmitting exercise.
