This four-week program for beginners introduces and reinforces fundamental tennis techniques.

Belly Aerobics

This class offers a fun, low-impact workout that incorporates belly dance movements including warm-up, stretching and toning with light weight dumbbells and stretch bands.

Hone your competitive nature and make new friends with BREC’s Bridge program. Bridge is a four player trick-taking card game, where two competing teams have partners sitting opposite each other.

Busy Bodies

This program addresses some of the major wellness components needed for optimal health. These areas include strength, flexibility, balance, cognition and nutrition.


Meet new friends or bring a group with you to compete in a fun game of cards. Canasta is a multiple player "rummy" style card game.

Chair Aerobics: Gus Young

This is a fun-filled class that varies and combines toning, stretching and strength training exercises for a complete body workout.

Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo is a worldwide celebration and has become a Baton Rouge favorite. We invite you to celebrate the Mexican holiday with authentic food, great music, children’s village, arts and crafts, information vendors, family games and more in a beautiful setting. Community Music and Heritage Festival

Join BREC and the Scotlandville Hornet Alumni Association for this great day of family entertainment featuring performances by local artists, giant water inflatables, crafts and information vendors, health resources, concessions and more. Partnership with Scotlandville Highschool Hornets Alumni Association

Cowboy Camp Out

Do you enjoy camping in the great outdoors, riding horses, and exploring the world around you? If you answered yes, then we have your next great adventure! Join us as we explore Farr Park overnight by horseback, foot and bike! Activities include horseback riding, archery, bicycling, geocaching, hay rides, camping, and hiking. Dinner and breakfast provided. Tents available for use for the night-$5.


Learn how to make beautiful blankets, baby clothes and much more. Crochet is a form of needlework which uses a hook to make decorative items and clothes.

Dog Day at the Swamp

BSNC drops its “No Pets” policy and opens its doors and trails to pets once per season! All leashed pets are welcome, but vaccinations should be current.


This program will take you back to your youth as you relearn the basics of dominoes. Test your skills against friends and family.

Duck Duck Goose Day

Fly over to Bluebonnet Swamp for some end-of-summer family fun. Explore the cultural, historical, and artistic value of waterfowl carvings while viewing vintage and contemporary decoys, wood carvings, boats, and paddles displayed by carvers and collectors from throughout the Deep South and beyond. Enjoy hands-on activities like the Waterfowl Identification Hike, the Carving Corner where visitors use soap to carve their own mini duck decoys, the Duck Box inflatable jump house, live baby ducklings in the Duck Pen, waterfowl-themed carnival prize booths, face-painting and more. Need more information about your decoy heirlooms? There will be plenty of experts on hand to assist in evaluating your waterfowl collectibles. $5 per adult / $4 per child (3-17) / free for children 2 and younger / $2 per pass holder

English & Western Riding Lessons

Learn how to ride a horse, or improve on your skills. Farr Park offers riding lessons to students ages six and older at all different levels. Group and private lessons are available.

Exodus Tennis Program for Advanced Beginners

This program features fundamental reinforcement, directional driven drills, advanced scoring system for league players, theoretical framework for future league players, and lots of fun.

Expedition Paddle: Bayou LaFourche

If you are ready to put your paddling skills to the test, then this adventure is the experience for you! Join the Outdoor Adventure team as we explore one of Louisiana’s beautiful waterways. This is for intermediate to advanced paddlers as it is a trip that features moving water and beautiful surroundings. Limited space is available, transportation and equipment are provided. Single and tandem kayaks available at first come first serve when registering. $30 per person/$25 if providing own transportation/$10 if providing own transportation and equipment

Expedition Paddle: Bogue Chitto

Are you ready to put your paddling skills to the test? Then, this adventure is the experience for you! Join our Outdoor Adventure team as we explore one of Louisana’s beautiful waterways. This trip is designed for intermediate to advanced paddlers as it features moving water and breathtaking scenery.

Explore Bowhunting

Do you enjoy the thrill of the hunt? Would you like to learn more about the principals of being a successful hunter or wildlife photographer? Do you like being outside and want to learn some cool new skills? Then Explore Bowhunting is for you! This educational program will guide participants through the basics of hunting using fun, and engaging group activities. Participants will learn principals of camouflage, movement in nature, ecology, biology, and archery as the apply to bowhunting and other outdoor pursuits. Students will receive hands on experience with multiple types of bows while increasing their confidence in the local wildlife and environments.

First Free Sundays

Bring family and friends to enjoy history during Magnolia Mound’s First Free Sundays. Guided tours present a special insight into early Louisiana history and culture.
