Individuals with disabilities and their family and friends are invited to attend. Each person is asked to bring a swimsuit and towel. Through a partnership with families helping families of greater baton rouge, BREC is able to offer this program that includes swimming, music, snacks and fun! Each person must have a wristband to enter.
This program is for adult beginner players who want to improve their tennis skills in preparation to play league tennis. Monthly and weekly rates are offered.
Grab a tent and enjoy an evening being active with other families, make a s’more, sleep under the stars and wake up refreshed in a beautiful BREC park! Outdoor Adventure activities, hiking, inflatables, and more will run from 4p.m. to dark. Food is provided and no camping experience required.

Ready to get some grit in your teeth? Then gear up for this introductory level mountain biking course as we put the tread to the trail. Let us give you some tips and tricks to get you comfortable on our mountain biking trails, so you can tear up the tracks. All equipment provided.
A beginner to intermediate paddling class on local BREC ponds. You will be given the opportunity to explore paddling skills on dry land, before moving on to water to get a true feel for how kayaks handle in their natural environment. Instructors will coach participants on basic kayak handling, strokes, and techniques, and maneuvering skills to help you feel comfortable on the water in the kayak. This prepares you for the other BREC Paddling Programs.
Looking for something more than your average cup of Joe to kickstart your morning routine? Try adding a little spice with Kayaks & Coffee, a fantastic blend of adventure and exercise to get you ready to face the day. Join us on the water at Greenwood Community Park, followed by coffee in the Waterfront Cafe after. $10 per kayak for East Baton Rouge Parish residents $12 per kayak for Out-of-Parish residents
Development program for youth players. Stroke development, conditioning, and strategy. Tuesdays in September from 4:30-6 p.m. Players must meet specific skills levels and be approved by the Developmental Manager, Ojo Thompson, to enroll.
Kids come out and learn to play tennis. BREC provides equipment and racquets. Please bring a water bottle and dress to sweat.
A paddling program for intermediate to experienced paddlers. Come check out and test the waters with us at the beautiful Bayou Manchac while enjoying a morning out on the water with BREC staff and Paddle BR.
Join the fun at BREC’s Parent and Child Summer Gala. Children of all ages are invited to team up with their parent or guardian for a whimsical night family togetherness. This dynamic event includes music, dancing, food, games, photo opportunities and more. Must have 15 couples registered by May 31 to host the event.
The Perseids are one of the major meteor showers of the year. Come join us and see if we can catch some “earthgrazers!” It is important that visitors come inside the building to receive instructions before setting up any chairs or blankets. Date may shift by one night.
Get into the Halloween spirit with our Pumpkin Paddle Parade, a exciting competion of “float” decorating! You design and decorate a canoe, kayak or paddleboard in Halloween décor, and then parade in front of our judges for the chance to win fabulous prizes!
Visit the Zoo and celebrate our red, white and blue animal friends. This special day will include Safari Amphitheatre programs, games and crafts featuring some of our red, white and blue Zoo animals. Regular Zoo hours of operation
Welcome the holiday season with a unique nighttime family bike ride. We will ride up the levee from Farr Park campground to downtown Baton Rouge for Baton Rouge’s Downtown Christmas Lighting Celebration. Participants will leave the levee trail head and join in a colorful bike parade through the downtown area, partake in the holiday festivities, then return to Farr Park together. What better way to start the holiday season than with this event!

Join us for this exciting senior biking program. We offer seniors a chance to maintain their fitness, lift their spirits and enjoy a social experience with others as they ride special designed cruisers or three-wheeled trike bikes, in our community parks and trail ways.
