Baton Rouge Gallery Kicks Off Movies & Music on the Lawn Series May 28
Baton Rouge Gallery, a BREC facility, kicks off its film series, Music & Movies on the Lawn, with Buster Keaton's 1924 film, "Sherlock Jr.," and the band, The (New) Zeelanders, May 28 at 8 p.m.
This years' series, "Slapstickers," focuses on the giants of silent-era slapstick comedy. Guests of all ages will enjoy live contemporary music paired with some of the most acclaimed comedies in history.
"Slapstickers" will entertain East Baton Rouge Parish families the last Saturday of every month from May to October. In addition to May's screening of "Sherlock Jr." the series will also include: Charlie Chaplin's "The Kid" (June 25); Harold Lloyd's "Safety Last" (July 30); Harry Langdon's "The Strong Man" (Aug. 27); and a trio of shorts starring Laurel and Hardy (Sept. 24). The series will close Oct. 29 with a screening of Mel Brooks' 1976 film, "Silent Movie."
Admission is $5 per person; and Baton Rouge Gallery members may attend free of charge. Admission includes unlimited complimentary popcorn.
