BREC is bringing the most awesome activities to a park near you! There are a wide range of activities that will be offered from guided nature hikes to pony painting. Come and join us for an amazing summer adventure! Check out the schedule for what is happening in your area.

Registering for Weeks 2 and Beyond
Wanting to register your kiddo for several of the Choose Your Own Adventure experiences? Jot down the activity numbers ( for the ones you're interested in and click on the name of any of the activities to head to Webtrac and start your registration journey. If you're only interested in registering for one activity, just click the acitivty name. 


Art Fun with Flowers - 200992
Students will create their own versions of van Gogh's "Sunflowers" and Georgia O'Keefe's flowers.

Astronomy Explorers - 201992
Kids will explore Astronomy. They will make crafts and even make a rocket. Kids will have the option of launching a rocket at a later date at suitable BREC location in the area.

Beast Mode Mountain Bike Introduction - 202992
Ready to go be a beast this summer? Come check us out at Hooper Road Park, where we'll be offering an introductory course to mountain biking. Get some fun tips and tricks before we hit the trails for a guided tour. Participant must be able to ride a bike.

BMX Back to Basics Clinic - 205992
Back to Basics BMX Clinic is a great way to get riders started on the BMX track. One of our amazing, experienced BMX instructors will teach riders the basics to get them ripping the BMX track. This is a fantastic opportunity for riders to build their confidence on their bike.

BMX Skate Park Clinic - 203992
In this session, riders will get guidance from an amazing, experienced instructor on the ins and outs of riding a skatepark. They will go over several essential skills that will get you ripping the park. This is the perfect session for anyone, who has the basics of riding a bike down, but would like to push themselves to be the best they can be.

Boarding Basics - 204992
In this session one of our amazing, experienced instructors will get riders shredding before they know it. They will go over essential skills that every boarder needs to know to get them shredding! This is an awesome clinic for any rider who may be a bit nervous and just needs a bit of help getting started. After this clinic, riders will have the confidence they need to continue pushing themselves as a shredder.

Buzz About Wildflower - 270992
Explore BREC Pollinator gardens, create wildflowers crafts, and learn why it's important to protect our pollinators. Bring part of the pollinator garden home at the end with your very own seed bomb!

Create it yourself! Bringing you some of the best DIY crafts & art projects to keep those minds & hands busy. Create with us!

Get your hands dirty while creating a 2-dimensional cat or dog face and a 3-dimensional fairy or bird house.

Expedition Frenchtown - 274992
Do you have an older nature enthusiast? Join us for a more in-depth and rigorous hiking adventure for older and experienced campers, (ages 13 to 17) who are interested in exploring Frenchtown Conservation with the Nature Explorer team. Closed-toed shoes and water bottles are required due to the more rigorous nature of this hike.

Fish with Friends - 275992
Does your little minnow need some peace and quiet out of the house this summer? Come join us as we cast our lines out at one of your local ponds for some nice relaxing fishing. Ready to take our bait?

Getting Messy with Art - 279992
Using fun and messy methods, kids will create two simple masterpieces.

Insect Adventure - 276992
What’s small, crawls and is fun to hunt for? Bugs! Join us for an exploration of the insect world where we will be digging in the dirt, swinging nets through the air, and searching for bugs. We will explore sampling techniques and spend a moment in their buzzing, flying, crawling world. Campers need to wear closed-toed shoes that they don't mind possibly getting a little dirty.

Movie in the Park - 280992
Come enjoy some of your favorite movie titles. Relax out on the lawn with light refreshments, character visits, and more.

Nature Adventure Quest - 281992
Do you have what it takes to find everything on your list and complete the quest? Join the Nature Explorer team for a fun nature scavenger hunt while experiencing some of BREC's outdoor spaces.

Nature Discovery Hike - 282992
Is your camper curious about what every plant is, what could have made that paw print in the mud, or just has a lot of energy to burn? They can join our Nature Explorers team out on the trails where they can pick their brains and learn about our local ecosystems. Campers are required to have closed-toed shoes due to the nature of this activity

Ready.Geaux.Move. - 283992
Join our BREC on the Geaux team and get moving! Be ready for some fun exercise and activity.

Rec Break - 284992
Bring your kids out for some active play with our recreation team. During this time, the kids will burn off some energy, get some much needed interaction, engage their gross motor skills, and absorb some Vitamin D!

Robin Hood Jr. - 285992
Come join the Robin Hood squad at your local archery range to learn the basics of archery. We'll go over parts of the bow, rules of the range, and get to practice our shooting. This introductory course will be required to go on any future missions with Robin Hood and his friends.

STEM Lab - 286992
Come join our talented STEM staff and experience the fun side of science, technology, engineering, and math as we participate in exciting and interactive STEM activities throughout the summer.

Tennis - 290992
Tennis instruction will include developing hand/eye coordination, learning various tennis strokes, playing games.

Tour de Baton Rouge - 296992
Ready to get your kiddo out of the house and let them explore a piece of Baton Rouge? On this tour we will be taking a ride along the levee, starting at Farr Park and bike to the Baton Rouge downtown area. Let us provide your child with the opportunity to exercise outside and see some of the city. Participant must be able to ride a bike.

Walk and Wade - 297992
Too hot to hike? Not here! Traverse the trails through the ponds and forests of Blackwater Conservation Area with the Nature Explorer team then cool off in the Comite River. Participants are required to wear water-shoes and clothing they don't mind getting a wet.

Welcome to Astronomy - 298992
An introduction to astronomy. Kids will get to view the sun safely, and make fun astronomy crafts that they can use to explore deeper into astronomy.

What’s SUP Introduction - 299992
What's SUP (stand up paddle) summer splashers? Come join us for this introductory paddle boarding class where we'll go over the basics of paddle boarding including: standing up on the board, paddle technique, and paddling on the water. We'll get you comfortable on the water and ready to participate in our other What's SUP Summer programs.

What's SUP (stand up paddle) summer splashers? Looking for a little adventure to spice up your summer? Well look no further. Come join us out a Wampold Park where we'll go on a tour and explore the edges of the LSU Lakes. What's SUP! Summer Intro is required before participating in this program.
