Smile Stars Pediatric Dentistry Presents Boo at the Zoo

BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo invites you to join us for Boo at the Zoo, a merry-not-scary trick-or-treating extravaganza.  Wear your best costumes and visit the Zoo on Oct. 17, 18, 24 and 25 from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Children will trick-or-treat throughout the entire Zoo, take a Safari Snapshot with one of the Zoo's animals and wander through the hay maze.  Penny, the Zoo's elephant mascot, will also be on grounds to welcome children and pose for pictures.  Don't miss the spooky train ride or the Zoo's cave of wonders, the popular Boo Den.

"Boo at the Zoo is our community's favorite Halloween event," said Director Phil Frost. "It's a safe, off-the-street alternative for trick-or-treating, and families get to spend the afternoon with some truly incredible animals."

Boo at the Zoo attracted nearly 30,000 people last year.  Visitors to this year's event will enjoy the newly renovated Conservation Plaza, Cypress Bayou Railroad Station and four state-of-the art restroom facilities.  Boo at the Zoo is also a great opportunity to see a sneak peek of the Zoo's newest blockbuster exhibit, Realm of the Tiger, which is slated to open in late fall.

New to Boo this year are our friends from Smile Stars Pediatric Dentistry.  While four days of candy fun and a dentist may not be an obvious pair, we are thrilled Smile Stars partnered with us this year to make Boo at the Zoo bigger and better than ever.  Jeremiah, the tooth-brushing bull frog, will make an appearance at Boo for photo opportunities with the children.  When he's not hanging out BREC's Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, Jeremiah's hobbies include playing basketball and visiting schools to teach children about brushing their teeth and proper tooth care.

Smile Stars Pediatric Dentistry is committed to serving the needs of all children through a patient centered philosophy of care.  Through the Zoo's involvement in such special programs as The Children's Coalition of Baton Rouge, The One More Child Foundation, Head Start, and Dentistry from the Heart, we have received blessings through giving and will continue to reach out to make a difference in each and every child's life.

So come on out and discover the animal kingdom at BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo. Visitors will enjoy the new Flamingo Cove and Giants of the Islands, featuring the Zoo's Chilean flamingos and Galapagos and Aldabra tortoises.  And don't forget to stop by the Safari Playground, the Otter Pond, L'aquarium de Louisiane, Parrot Paradise and the KidsZoo.  Adults and children can ride the Cypress Bayou Railroad on a scenic ride through the unique Louisiana habitat that surrounds the heart of the Zoo.

BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).  Look for the AZA logo whenever you visit a zoo or aquarium as your assurance that you are supporting a facility dedicated to providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for you and a better future for all living things.
