Swim, Bike and Run Your Way to the Finish Line at BREC's RocketKidz Rookies Triathlon
On your mark, get set, GO! Registration is underway for BREC's Sixth Annual RocketKidz Rookies Triathlon. Gather up the swim goggles, bicycle helmets and running shoes to join BREC at City-Brooks Community Park on Saturday, June 13 at 8 a.m. for a morning full of outdoor fun. RocketKidz Rookies, formerly known as IronKid, introduces children ages 3 to 14 to the sport of triathlons.
Every RocketKidz Rookie is truly a winner! As children cross the finish line, a medal will be placed around their necks, door prizes will be awarded while race results are tabulated and plaques will be given to the top three finishers in each division.
The triathlon starts with a swim in the Brooks Park pool, followed by a bicycle ride along Historic City Park Golf Course, and then a run through the community park. Those in the 3-4 and 5-6-year-old divisions who cannot swim may still participate with the help of a parent or floaties in the shallow end of the pool. Only those in the 3 and 4-year-old division may use training wheels, and all age participants must wear helmets.
Registration fees are $30 per child and $20 for each additional child in the same family. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. To register online or to download forms, visit www.brec.org/specialevents. Race packet pickup and the last days of registration will be June 10 - 12 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Fleet Feet Sports, 6251 Perkins Rd.
