Seeking Counselors

If you are looking for a Summer or part-time job and love nature plus working with children, we may have a spot for you in our summer counselor positions! Contact our Education Curator at sguidry@brec.org for more information about becoming a counselor at Bluebonnet Swamp and contact BREC Naturalist Moe Richert at moe.richert@brec.org about becoming a counselor at BREC Conservation camps.

BLUEBONNET SWAMP OPEN CAMP SPOTS:

Networking with Nature - Does your camper need to unplug from a screen and reconnect to nature? Join BREC's Bluebonnet Swamp Summer Camp as we explore connections with the world around us - from learning about life cycles to predator-prey interactions and more! Age-specific, thematic activities are developed to keep campers having fun all day long as they interact with live animals, go on outdoor hikes, play games and make unique nature crafts. Fun snacks are provided in the afternoons, but campers should bring a bag lunch and drink each day. We have extended camp space and now have open spaces in the following sessions:

SESSION 3: SWAMP STOMPERS BOYS!
June 21-25 / Ages: 7-10

SESSION 6: SWAMP EXPLORERS
July 12-16 / Ages: 11-14

SESSION 7: SWAMP STOMPERS
July 19-23 / Ages: 7-10

SESSION 8: SWAMP STOMPERS GIRLS!
July 26-30 / Ages: 7-10

7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
$125 for East Baton Rouge Parish residents
$150 for out-of-parish residents

CONSERVATION OPEN CAMP SPOTS:

SESSION 7: ECOSYSTEM EXPLORATIONS
Ecosystem Exploration sessions will break down the natural world through exploration and play. Campers will learn about nature's functions and the different ecosystems and the organisms within them. They will venture into swamps, forests and rivers; hiking, splashing, and investigating the who, what and how of local habitats. No bug, fish, bird or fungus is off-limits in this wild exploration of native Louisiana Ecosystems. We have extended camp space and now have open spaces in Session 7!
