BREC
COVID-19 Update March
2020
Buildings Closed
During this difficult time for East Baton Rouge Parish, BREC is doing its part to help limit the spread of COVID-19, by closing all fitness centers, recreation centers, and special use facilities such as the Baton Rouge Zoo and Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center. The BREC administrative building is also closed to the public. BREC leadership is working closely with local, state, and federal officials and anticipates these closures to remain in effect until April 13 and potentially longer if necessary.

Parks Remain Open
As medical officials agree that being outdoors is one of the best places to be right now, BREC's 180+ parks remain open to visitors. We ask that you visit in groups of less than ten people, that you practice social distancing and bring hand sanitizer or wipes so you can follow CDC safety guidelines. BREC's maintenance staff is continually sanitizing all high touch surfaces such as playgrounds, outdoor fitness equipment, benches and bathrooms.

Summer Camp Registration Postponed
With the uncertainty over school calendars, BREC has postponed summer camp registration originally scheduled for March 21. We will announce when a new date is selected so please watch BREC's website and social media pages.

Play & Grow Pros REFRESH
In the meantime, BREC is here for you outdoors and online. We are putting together a library of videos to keep you active and refresh your mind during this time of uncertainty. You can find them at brec.org/refresh or on our social media pages and still enjoy some of your favorite BREC locations and activities through your screen.

Please monitor our website and social media pages for further information as we work together to get through this evolving situation.
