SMARTIES – A FREE AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM

Adult Art Programming

MONDAY MORNING ART
Our popular Monday Morning Art is back! Students will be led through fun and informative lessons using various mediums. All supplies included. Taught by professional artist Holly Stone-Barker.

MONDAY EVENING ART
Same as our Monday Morning Art, but for the working crowd!

OPEN STUDIO AT BARINGER
Each Friday morning, participants are invited to join other likeminded creatives while working on their own personal projects, visiting, and receiving honest, caring feedback. This free, drop-in program is a perfect unwinding, artsy time—and a great opportunity to tour BREC’s new art center and ask questions about upcoming programs.

MUDDY BUDDIES
These pottery wheel classes are for those who have always wanted to build, throw and play with clay! Participants will use the potter's wheel to learn how to make the basic forms used in pottery: the cylinder and the bowl. Using these, they will create and design mugs and bowls limited only by imagination. Students will also explore trimming and glazing. Clay, glazes and tools are provided. Taught by ceramicist Sandy Parfait.

HAND BUILDING WITH CLAY
Hand building is the ceramics technique of creating clay forms without using a potter’s wheel. Students will create vessels using their hands, fingers, and simple tools while learning basic techniques such as pinch pots, coiling, and slab building. Clay, glazes and tools are provided. Taught by ceramicist Sandy Parfait.

OPEN CLAY STUDIO
BREC Art offers scheduled open wheel use for those who have previously participated or are currently enrolled in our Muddy Buddies class. Clay and glazes are not provided, but wheel and tool access is included. Once enough work is gathered for a full kiln, pieces will be fired free of charge. Open Studio is only for those with Muddy Buddies experience.
