Swamp Haunted Hikes

Bluebonnet Swamp’s Haunted Hikes are designed specifically for younger children. This program is an alternative to the commercial haunted houses, which are geared more for teenagers and adults. Participants learn about snakes, insects, rats and other “creepy critters” as they stop at educational stations along the trail. No scare tactics are used during this program, and participants are welcome to come in costume.

Pumpkin Paddle Parade

Get in the Halloween spirit by paddling in the dark along the shoreline of the University Lakes or watching the light show from the beach! For this fourth annual event, participants bring a voluntary contribution of nonperishable goods for the Baton Rouge Food Bank.

Zombie 5k Fun Run

Run to stay alive! All runners will not only have to make it to the end of the course, but you'll have to avoid the undead as they try to take your lives (flags) before you can get to safety (the finish line).

Halloween Hullabaloo

The City of Central is happy to bring back its Halloween Hullabaloo for the second year. Founded in October 2016 as a Trick or Treat alternative following the devastating August floods, the event was a big success in its first year, including a chance for kids to connect with the Central Fire Department and Police Department. BREC will be providing Halloween themed activities as well, so grab your costume and join us!

Gingerbread House Decorating

Have an evening of family fun that can be shared over and over again throughout the holiday. Create a gingerbread masterpiece with lots of graham crackers, icing and candy trims. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Military veterans and active military will receive complimentary admission
