The skate park will be closed on Dec. 14 for BREC's Let It Sneaux event. Normal park hours will resume on Saturday, December 21.
Extreme Sports
The Extreme Sports Department consists of the Velodrome, three skate parks, BMX track, air gun range, disc golf courses and mountain bike trails. Perkins Road Community Park amenities include a 30,000 square-foot concrete skate park, BMX track, a community playground, tennis court and walking paths. BREC’s BMX track facility hosts birthday parties and weekly races. The Jean Lafitte Air Gun Range houses two field courses and a covered site-in range.

The skatepark at Perkins Road Community Park is a 30,000-square-foot, concrete skatepark, built by California Skateparks, that accommodates skateboards, bicycles, inline skates, and rollerskates. Helmets and pads are strongly recommended.

Skateboarding Basics - Interested in learning how to skateboard but can't commit to a full program? Pop in for our skateboarding basic class and get the essentials to kick off your favorite new hobby.
Skateboarding Academy - No experience required and open to skaters at any level! Learn the fundamentals of skateboarding or practice them with expert guidance here in Baton Rouge.
BMX + Biking
BMX
BREC's BMX Raceway offers open track riding (weather permitting). The Raceway is also available for Birthday Party Rentals. Helmets required. No motorized vehicles or RC cars are allowed. Waivers must be signed to ride the BMX track, please see a staff member upon arrival.

Velodrome
This 333-meter smooth concrete cycling track is one of only 15 in the United States! Cyclists can reach up to 35 mph during competition. The Velodrome is free and open to the public; helmets are required to ride the Velodrome.

BMX + Biking Programs
BMX at the Park - Skatepark BMX classes in Baton Rouge for biking beginners and beyond! This 4-week program will teach and provide practice for riders the essential skills for riding in the park, like etiquette, transitions, bunny hops and more.
Balance Biking 101 - This unique class is designed to accelerate a toddler's bicycle skills over two weeks in a safe environment. Give your young rider a head start and teach them a sense of accomplishment!

Louisiana Healthcare Connections - Disc Golf Park at Scotlandville (18 holes)

The course was built in December 2015 thanks to a collaboration between the local disc golf community and BREC. It features exquisitely beautiful natural topography in the form of rolling elevation changes uncommon to Louisiana, bayou Monte Sano running the length of the park, and weaves through picturesque Oak trees. The layout is 2009 PDGA World Champion Avery Jenkins' first design, coming in at over 7300' in length.

Airgun Range
Jean Lafitte Air Gun Range
This world-class facility is situated on 20 acres among massive oaks on ambling Bayou Manchac. The range consists of two field courses and a covered site-in range.
