Movie at the Lagoon: Sonic 3
Liberty Lagoon
Enjoy a summer night with family and friends for a movie at the Lagoon during our extended hours. Grab your towels and one of our innertubes, then just sit back and relax with our movie night and movie themed activities!

Zoo + Me Morning

This program is designed for 3-to-5-year-old children accompanied by a parent or guardian. Every Zoo & Me Morning incorporates exciting activities, including animal encounters, art projects, "Zooper" snacks, and many other hands-on projects that you and your child can enjoy together.

Perseid Meteor Shower

Every summer, the Earth plows through a trail of cometary debris. HRPO hosts a special nighttime viewing session during the peak window for meteor activity. Viewing may shift by one day based on conditions.

Senior Day at Liberty Lagoon
Liberty Lagoon
National Senior Citizens Day recognizes contributions senior citizens make in communities across the city of Baton Rouge. BREC would like to recognize them by rewarding them with private swim time. Event limit 50 participants.

Swamp Flashlight Night
Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center
We welcome you to enjoy the Swamp at night by visiting us during our Swamp Flashlight Night! Staff will be facilitating live animal encounters throughout the event. Enjoy a self-guided leisurely night hike with your family and friends or join a guided hike for an additional fee; space is limited so registration in advance is preferred. The swamp trails can be really dark at night, so don’t forget to bring a flashlight. If you don’t have one, check out our gift shop for some options. Closed-toe shoes and insect repellent are recommended. Please note that admission to the trails ends at 8:15 p.m.

Nature Night Hike + Campfire

Ever wonder what goes on in Conservation Areas after the sun goes down? Join Conservation staff and learn about local nighttime ecology and nocturnal animals while you creep through the woods on a blacked-out night hike. And no Night Hike would we complete without time around the campfire and a S’more! Come enjoy this great way to get the family out after the daytime heat. Preregistration is required and spaces are limited. Children must be registered and accompanied by a registered adult.

10 + Under Tennis Tournament
Capital One Tennis Center at City-Brooks Community Park
This fun tennis tournament features a singles round robin format to prepare players for sanctioned tournament play. Boys and girls divisions: ages 8 and younger on a 36 ft. court with a maximum 23-inch racquet; ages 10 and younger on a 60 ft. court with a maximum 25-inch racquet; ages 10 and younger on a 78 ft. court with a maximum 29-inch racquet. Players will follow USTA rules. Free snacks and awards for players.
