BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo hosts WILD Family Fun this summer

Visit the Zoo in June for "cool" events and programs

BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo is a great place to visit this summer with the whole family. We have programs throughout June to help families and friends beat the summer heat.

 Zoo Camp

What could be more fun during summer break than hanging out with the animals? Zoo Camp includes arts, crafts, games, music and endless tours of the Zoo. Children will experience unique animal encounters and keeper chats. Ages and themes vary by week. Each week is different so children can enjoy multiple weeks at the Zoo! 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Fee is $100/week per child ($120 out-of-parish)

Early drop off 7:30 a.m. and late pick up until 5:30 p.m. no additional fee

 Twilight Tours

BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo invites you to visit this summer for Twilight Tours every Tuesday and Thursday evening this June. Take a twilight tram ride through the Zoo in the cool of the evening. Dates scheduled include June 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28 and 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a guided ride through the Zoo and an evening snack. The cost is $16 for adults and teens, $13 for children 2-12. There is limited space available, and pre-registration is required. Call 775-3877 option 2 to register.

Father's Day at the Zoo

On June 20, it's all about dad. So bring yours to the Zoo and spend the day with the WILD bunch. This day features dad & me-themed amphitheatre programs, games and crafts. Visit or call 775.3877 for more information.

 Safari Night

Have you ever wondered what the Zoo is like at night? Safari Night programs show you night-life at the Zoo and are held every Friday and Saturday. We can accommodate up to 30 persons. Participants arrive at 6:30 p.m. and your adventure ends at 9:30 a.m. Your Safari Guide will lead your group on walking tours of different parts of the Zoo. You'll learn all about the Zoo's animals through hands-on activities and animal encounters. All participants receive a Safari Night T-shirt. Enjoy a continental breakfast and the experience of serving breakfast to a Zoo animal!  Cost: $28/person; minimum of 15 people. Pre-registration required.  BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo is a place where people connect with animals, including elephants, giraffes, rhinos and alligators. The world-class Realm of the Tiger is now open featuring highly endangered tigers, Siamang gibbons and beautiful Asian birds. Visitors can enjoy the new Flamingo Cove and Giants of the Islands, featuring the Zoo's Chilean flamingos and Galapagos and Aldabra tortoises, as well as the Safari Playground, the Otter Pond, our exhibit featuring a replicated fishing cabin with underwater viewing of the otters, L'aquarium de Louisiane, Parrot Paradise and KidsZoo. Adults and children can ride the Cypress Bayou Railroad on a scenic ride through the unique Louisiana habitat that surrounds the core Zoo. The Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Look for the AZA logo whenever you visit a zoo or aquarium as your assurance that you are supporting a facility dedicated to providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for you and a better future for all living things.
