Temporary Parking Changes at North Sherwood Forest Community Park Recreation Center
Baton Rouge—Due to the construction of a new entrance driveway and parking lots at North Sherwood Forest Community Park, located at 3140 N. Sherwood Forest Drive, parking areas and the recreation center entrance will temporarily change beginning Wednesday, July 13. The park's recreation center, lake, playground and pavilion will remain open through construction.
BREC moved access to the recreation center to the School Board driveway in the rear of the building. There is a temporary entrance to the recreation center at the southwest corner of the building. Parking areas are available between the building and North Sherwood Forest Drive as well as behind the building. Visitors may also park in the overflow lot at the School Board building.
Park visitors may access the lake, playground and pavilion from the parking area around BREC's old administrative building, to the north of the property.
In response to recommendations within the BREC Strategic Plan to establish and upgrade 12 existing parks into Community Parks, North Sherwood Forest Park is undergoing renovation and development as a Community Park. Current construction involves removing the existing entry road and parking lots and creating a new drive and parking areas. Click this link to learn more about the project: http://bit.ly/oxIGtN.
It is the BREC mission to provide parks and recreational opportunities for all the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish.
