Science, Aliens and Celestial Fun: Highland Road Park Observatory Hosts Spooky Spectrum
EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH—Discover the spooky side of astronomy Oct. 22 at BREC's Highland Road Park Observatory from 8 p.m. to midnight. This annual family event explores the bizarre side of astronomy, physics and aeronautics just in time for Halloween.
Creepy science demonstrations, eerie stories and celestial-themed activities will entertain parents and children. Telescopes will also be available for viewings. Admission is free for all participants.
Highland Road Park Observatory, located at 13800 Highland Road, features a 20-inch reflecting telescope, which has discovered more than 50 asteroids and a 16-inch reflecting telescope. The observatory is brought to the public by BREC, LSU's Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society.
