BREC Moves to New Technology for Job Applications

Will Allow Job Seekers to Easily Apply With a New Online System

Beginning February 2nd, BREC will launch a new software system to improve the hiring process for job seekers and personnel managers.  In order to ensure a smooth transition, BREC will institute the change in three phases. First job seekers for Liberty Lagoon will be able to submit online applications for numerous positions currently open via the BREC Human Resources website. Next, BREC will offer the service to all people who are interested in applying for summer positions within the agency mid-March. Then in the fall, BREC will fully transition to online applications for all available jobs.


This new service comes after BREC partnered with NEOGOV, the nation’s largest cloud software for Human Resources in government and education.  NEOGOV Insight Enterprise, is a web-based, workforce management solution. It is an easy to use system designed to enhance BREC’s efficiency and effectiveness. Using this technology, Human Resources and department managers can access online records to expedite hiring and provide greater accountability when selecting new employees.


“This new software is being implemented at the busiest time for BREC’s Human Resources department as we begin the search for hundreds of staff members to operate our many summer camps, staff our pools and waterpark and staff summer programs,” said BREC’s Director of Human Resources, Stephanie Trim, PHR. “The new system will make it much easier on our job applicants by incorporating all aspects of recruitment, selection, applicant tracking, workflow automation, reporting and analysis. Instead of having to come to our office and fill out paperwork, candidates can submit applications and attachments (e.g. resumes, transcripts) electronically. The new system provides BREC staff with tools to effectively and efficiently screen and identify the applicants who best meet the requirements of the job using an automated screening system,” said Trim.


BREC’s Human Resources department will also have computer kiosks available for applicants to use to apply for job postings in the HR office, located at 6201 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA and at other BREC facilities. 


The new system will also allow hiring managers to more effectively create minimum qualifications to sort through a pool of applicants.  With the new system, administrative work and technical maintenance costs are reduced as this workload is handled by the NEOGOV system.


“We have told the community that we will use their tax dollars wisely,” said BREC Superintendent Carolyn McKnight. “This is one example of how we are using technology to provide better customer service to residents who want to join the BREC team. I am excited to make this process easier and cost-effective for everyone involved,” said McKnight. 


With this technology, BREC now joins more than 1,000 organizations across the nation by utilizing cutting edge online technology for personnel management.
