The Baton Rouge Gallery, a BREC facility, offers Fall Art Programs for Children & Adults
The Baton Rouge Gallery, a BREC facility, will offer art classes and camps for children and adults starting in October.
Start your Fall on a journey into the abstract. Over four sessions, adults, 18 and older, will learn about color, color mixing, and utilizing observational painting to explore prompts in abstraction. Each class can stand alone or you can sign up for all four to build on your knowledge and portfolio. Classes are $35 per course or $120 for all four, offered every Thursday in October, from 6-8 p.m. at the Baton Rouge Gallery, 1515 Dalrymple Drive.
Adjust your focus on photography on Oct. 29 with a two-part photography session at the Baton Rouge Gallery. Session One, 10 a.m.-noon, explores the basics of your DSLR camera. This basic course will address the foundations of photography including: ISO, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, camera shooting modes, file sizes, and exposure metering. The instructor will provide you with a breakdown of each function as well as the location and execution of your individual camera.
Enjoy a lunch in City Brooks Community Park before Session Two, 2-4 p.m., where you will delve into Portrait Photography. This portrait photography class is offered for beginner to early intermediate photographers using simple gear to take amazing portraits. You will address ways to use natural light, augmented natural light, and strobes with both natural light and as the main lights only. The course is open to adults, ages 18 and older, at $50 per session or $90 for both sessions.
Share a night of creative expression at the Baton Rouge Gallery on Nov. 4 with BREC's One by Two, Collaborative Painting Class. You and a partner will combine brushstrokes using unconventional prompts to turn an aesthetic experience into a unique acrylic painting. Refreshments and cocktail snacks will be provided. This class is open to adults, 18 and older, for $75 per couple.
For the kids that love to create, BREC is offering both Fall and Winter holiday art camps. Grog and Glaze: Clay Camp will be held Nov. 21-23, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at BREC's Webb Park, 1351 Country Club Dr. Campers will explore all the facets of creating in clay from handbuilding to utilizing a kiln and everything in between. The Winter Holiday Art Camp, held Dec. 27-30, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at BREC's Womack Park, 6201 Florida Blvd., allows campers to experience a flurry of winter art projects, exploring all mediums.
