Therapeutic Recreation

Therapeutic Recreation is the use of recreation services and leisure experiences to help people with disabilities become a part of their community through recreational opportunities. It offers both recreation participation and leisure education to East Baton Rouge Parish.

The Inclusive Recreation Department works with all aspects of BREC programming to ensure that inclusion is encouraged. BREC strives to make our programs inclusive, which means they are open to all citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish, including those with disabilities. If you need assistance or accommodations, call 225-926-4659 prior to attending our programs so we can attempt to make necessary accommodations. This department also offers exclusive programming for adults with disabilities to ensure that recreational needs are being met.

BREC partners with agencies in the community such as Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge, Louisiana Special Olympics, The Arc Baton Rouge, and Volunteers of America to provide recreational opportunities to people with and without disabilities.
