Sensory Bunny

Zachary Community Park

Hop into spring with BREC Adaptive’s Sensory Bunny. Children and adults with disabilities are invited to join us for activities and pictures with the Easter Bunny, while avoiding long wait times. See you on the Bunny Trail!

Ages: All ages with intellectual, developmental or sensory processing disorders

Egg Hunt After Dark

Highland Road Community Park

Who said adults can’t have fun for easter!? Egg hunts aren't just for kids so come join us for a fun kids free event! Eggs will be hidden all over the field with candy and other special prizes. The event will include live music by U4RIA, food trucks and cocktails! Ages 18+

Comite Classic

Comite River Conservation Area

Gear up for an exciting day at the Comite Classic! Mountain bikers can choose between the single-loop (5 miles) novice division or tackle the 3-loop (15 miles) advanced division for a scenic bike ride through thrilling terrain. The top three finishers in each division will earn awards. After the race, stick around for good food and great company with our friends at BRAMBA.

Zippity Zoo Fest 

BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo 

BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo will hold its annual spring festival, Zippity Zoo Fest. This year, celebrate the Zoo's 55th Birthday! We’ll have a Children's Village, education stations, a food court, and animal encounters.

Art Fest

Baringer Art Center

Join BREC Art at our third annual Art Fest held at Baringer Art Center. This free, family fun fest will include a morning of cool art demos, a collaborative community art piece, projects for young artists, fun music, treats and a display of some of the cool art created by students in our classes. There will also be vetted adult art vendors and young artist vendors selling different and unique art pieces and a paint-by-number art exhibit! Help us make year three the biggest and best Art Fest yet!

EGGstravaganza

Independence Community Park

Grab your baskets because we're throwing an EGGSTRAVAGANZA! Come and have some family fun with Easter egg hunts, face painting, bounce houses, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, a visit from the Easter Bunny and more! Don't forget to bring your own basket!

Zoo & Me Morning  

BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo 

This program is designed for 3-to-5-year-old children accompanied by a parent or guardian. Every Zoo & Me Morning incorporates exciting activities, including animal encounters, art projects, "Zooper" snacks, and many other hands-on projects that you and your child can enjoy together.

Frenchtown Conservation Area Grand Opening

Frenchtown Conservation Area

Join us in celebrating the Grand Opening of our new Frenchtown Nature Station with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 25. The adventure continues throughout the weekend -- join the City Nature Challenge by helping us to document the local wildlife on guided hikes.

Celebrate Trails Day

Dawson Creek Trail at Perkins Road Community Park

Join us in celebrating America’s trails – 41,000+ miles of multiuse trails across the nation, which bring incredible value to our everyday lives, contributing to the well-being of people, places and the planet. We invite you to get out and explore the Greenway trails that are publicly provided to you by BREC! Staff will be available at the Dawson Creek Greenway to discuss plans and initiatives throughout the parish.

Young Picasso's

Milton J. Womack Park  

This revised program (formally Little Picasso’s) will focus on different types of art and different mediums. You asked and we listened! These Saturday classes are open-ended so parents can pick and choose which class(es) best suit their schedule. Each Saturday will be inspired by the art and story from a well-loved children’s book.

Summer Kick-off

Extreme Sports Park at Perkins Road Community Park

Come kick off the Summer with a celebration at the Skatepark! Beginning at noon, we’ll party with non-stop music, great food, and—of-course—some extremely good riding! Skaters, bikers, and scooters are invited to a friendly competition with fantastic prizes for top finishers.
