Zoo & Me Morning

BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo

Make precious memories at Zoo & Me Mornings, which happens the second Saturday of every month except June and July! For 3 to 5-year-old children accompanied by a parent or guardian, Zoo & Me Morning incorporates exciting activities, including animal encounters, art projects, "Zooper" snacks, and many other hands-on projects. Rockin' at the Swamp

BREC’s Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center

Join us at the swamp for an exciting exploration of rocks, minerals, gemstones, and fossils! You can visit the Rockhound Market to add to your rock collection or find unique gift items. Test your skills on our rock climbing wall, learn to identify different rocks and minerals, and make your own take-home identification card on our Treasure Trail. Experience the thrill of the gold rush while hunting for iron pyrite in our Gold Mine. You can also try out some fun crafts or paint your own Rock Animal in our craft corner. Don't forget to explore ancient life forms in the Fossil Quarry. It's going to be a rockin' day of fun that highlights geology and earth science. Inquire about our annual pass discounts. Vibin' Yoga

Vibing yoga combines traditional yoga techniques with the rhythms and flows of hip-hop music. This workout combines elements of yoga and trapeze arts, that creates a full-body workout with a healthy dose of fun. Vibing Yoga may be the new start you are looking for. Come join us at Cohn Arboretum and enjoy a nice cup of coffee with like-minded individuals while we talk about different nature-based topics, or leisurely stroll along the paths while listening, sharing, or simply soaking in the silence. This is a great way to connect with other members of our community who share the love of the outdoors or to learn something new. To thank all of our Zoo members, we invite members for an exclusive evening to see what the Zoo is like after the gates close to the public. Comite River Run

Comite River Conservation Area

Get ready for BREC’s 5th annual Comite River Run! Lace up for an exhilarating 5-mile loop weaving along the serene river through lush forest. The top three finishers in the Women's and Men's divisions will be awarded prizes, and every runner who completes the course will earn a finisher medal. Join us after the race for a tasty lunch to celebrate your adventure. (Rainout Date: March 29)

CANCELLED: Adult Fun Pickleball Doubles Tournament

Greenwood Community Park Racquet Facility

This one-day doubles tournament features a round robin format. Levels 2.5-4.5+. Divisions for men’s, women’s, and mixed. Lunch will be provided. Must register in division of higher player’s skill level. Tournament director has discretion to move players to a different skill level. Completed teams with partners and teams that are paid in full have priority on available slots.  Click to register.

Join us for a personal, hands-on flora pressing workshop. Participants will learn the basics of pressing flora for optimal results, be guided through placement of the pressed plants, and finish the workshop with a beautiful personalized floating frame ornament. BR Bike Fest

Extreme Sports Park at Perkins Road Community Park

Are you bananas for bicycles? Then join us for Baton Rouge's third annual bike festival! Enjoy velodrome demonstrations, free rides on BREC's BMX track, BMX skate park competition, and guided bicycle rides along the Pennington Trail. This event also features bike related organizations throughout East Baton Rouge Parish, supporting two-wheeled locomotion and a love for all things bicycling. This revised program (formally Little Picasso’s) will focus on different types of art and different mediums. You asked and we listened!
