Baton Rouge, LouisianaEAST BATON ROUGE PARISH - BREC is excited to announce that the annual release of tagged Rainbow Trout in select conservation ponds across Baton Rouge Parish took place on December 19, 2024. To encourage participation, we have tagged a certain number of fish that can be redeemed for prizes from now until January 17.
The Rainbow Trout Stocking program has been a cherished tradition in Baton Rouge for over a decade, providing a unique opportunity for residents to enjoy fishing for these vibrant and feisty fish. This year, BREC has selected five ponds at BREC Parks to be stocked with adult Rainbow Trout, ensuring that anglers of all ages have the chance to participate in this exciting event. These parks include Palomino Drive Park, Forest Community Park, Howell Community Park, Perkins Road Community Park, and Zachary Community Park.
Participants in the competition are encouraged to catch and release as many fish as they like, with a daily take-home limit of four Rainbow Trout per person. Anglers who catch tagged fish will have the chance to win special prizes.
Important Information for Participants:
- Ponds stocked with Rainbow Trout are the only ponds participating in the Rainbow Trout Christmas Tagging Program.
- Only one prize per tag and one prize per participant.
