News Baton Rouge Bicentennial Oak Dedication

Baton Rouge, LouisianaIn partnership with BREC, The Baton Rouge Bicentennial Commission, The East Baton Rouge Parish Library System, and Baton Rouge Green, a Live Oak will be planted at Expressway Park in honor of Baton Rouge’s 200th birthday.
A dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting will be held on Wednesday, December 13 at 10 a.m. at Expressway Park, 935 S 11th St. in Baton Rouge. Mayor-President Sharon Broome and BREC Superintendent Carolyn McKnight, as well as other officials, will dedicate the monument of the Bicentennial Live Oak.
Several local organizations were involved in establishing this Bicentennial Live Oak. The East Baton Rouge Parish Library has donated the monument to be installed by the tree and Baton Rouge Green will install and care for the tree to ensure its survival. The Live Oak was donated by Rick Webb of Louisiana Growers and will sit on the provided site, BREC’s Expressway Park.
